2007 FSU Tri-State Band Festival from November 29-December 2, 2007

Congratulations to band members Matt Szczepanski on Bass Clarinet, Antony Stabile on Trumpet, Matthew Henson on Euphonium and Samantha Mosher on Eb Alto Clarinet for being selected to participate in the 2007 FSU Tri-State Band Festival from November 29-December 2, 2007 on the campus of Florida State University! These students are member of the bands Cocoa Beach Wind Ensemble. This annual festival features nationally- and internationally-recognized guest conductors and resident FloridaState University faculty in a busy schedule of concerts, master classes, and professional clinics. This will be a truly exciting educational experience for these students and an honor for our school. Go Beach !!!

The Florida State University TRI-STATE BAND FESTIVAL and CONDUCTING CONFERENCE is designed to provide rewarding musical experiences for high school band students and their band directors. This annual festival features nationally- and internationally-recognized guest conductors and resident FloridaState University faculty in a busy schedule of concerts, master classes, and professional clinics. Thehonors bands are comprised of 400 outstanding high school musicians from Florida, Georgia, andAlabama. Selection is based on band director recommendations, past musical honors, and instrumentation.Every effort is made to select at least one student from each nominating high school.

The GUEST CONDUCTORS for the 2007 Tri-State Festival are JAMES CURNOW (renowned composer,conductor, & educator), BENTLEY SHELLAHAMER (Florida State University, retired), PAULATHORNTON (distinguished Florida bandmaster), and MICHAEL VOTTA (University of North Carolina).The CONDUCTING CONFERENCE has become an eagerly anticipated event for band directors in the Tri-State area. This year’s conducting conference includes clinic sessions with each of the four guestconductors, Dr. Patrick Dunnigan, Director of Bands at FSU, and Prof. Richard Clary, Director of WindStudies and Senior Band Director at FSU.
