Band Recognition Party

Who: All Band Students, Parents and Family
What: Band Awards Ceremony and Dessert Social
Where: Cocoa Beach Jr/ Sr High School Commons
When: Monday, May 10, 2010 @ 6:30pm

The Band Awards Ceremony will be held in the commons this year. We will begin promptly at 6:30pm. Please bring your favorite dessert to share with others in a potluck style setting. We will set up tables for the dessert social and you will serve yourself. We will give out the awards and satisfy our sweet tooth at the same time! Best of all there will be no charge. The band boosters will provide the drinks and the paper goods, all you provide is a great dessert to knock our socks off with! If the weather challenges us we will move to the covered atrium area.

The band awards are given to each student. There are a myriad of categories including your solo and ensemble superior medals. Also we will announce, drum majors, band officers, marching show, etc.

It will be a little different this year, but we will try to keep all of the tradition the same. We changed the format to be sensitive of the financial climate we are currently in. It is our hope that all of the band families will now be able to attend without any financial burden. No Charge at all! So come on out and let’s celebrate a great year with the beach band!

Please email me ASAP if you plan on attending. we need to set up the right amount of tables in advance. How many in your party?

Homework - Cocoa Beach JrSr HS Band

All Students in Mr. Brooker's classes have a ongoing homework practice assignment.

30 minutes nightly high school -or - total of 3 hours a week

20 minutes nightly middle school -5 days a week

What to practice? Class music for upcoming concerts, warmup sheets, scales 2 octaves, all county music, etc.

All practice time is to be logged into their charms account online. I have taken a lot of time in class showing everyone how to do this and even had them do it in class. Please email me if you are having difficulty with this.

Practice helps us become more proficient and enjoy the music more. Everyone should challenge themselves to be the best that they can be.
